Another first in Italy: BonelliErede launches its Competition Litigation Task Force
10 February 2021

BonelliErede has drawn on its strengths in civil litigation and competition law, its expertise in competition-related damages actions, and its proven track record to set up a new task force dedicated to competition litigation – the first of its kind in Italy.
The Competition Litigation Task Force brings together the expertise of professionals from BonelliErede’s competition law and civil litigation departments.
It will assist clients in all types of civil litigation involving competition law and unfair commercial practices, e.g., damages actions, actions to obtain interim measures, and actions concerning the validity of contracts. Disputes of this nature frequently involve infringements ascertained by the Italian Competition Authority (follow-on actions) or to be assessed by the civil courts (stand-alone actions) and may also involve class actions.
The task force will be coordinated by a group of nine partners and of counsel, all of whom boast in-depth knowledge of the practice areas concerned: Vittorio Allavena, Francesco Anglani, Sara Lembo, Giuseppe Lombardi, Massimo Merola, Laura Salvaneschi, Manuela Soligo, Marina Tavassi and Claudio Tesauro. Numerous other BonelliErede professionals will contribute their individual expertise to the task force to ensure it covers all market sectors across all practice areas.
Giuseppe Lombardi, Litigation co-practice manager, and Francesco Anglani, Antitrust practice manager, had this to say: “We combined two of our strongest areas of expertise because we believe clients will increasingly require a targeted approach to civil litigation and competition law as markets continue to change. Our team of professionals, several of whom also have extensive academic experience in these areas of law, will ensure clients multidisciplinary assistance and effective management of litigation cases across multiple EU jurisdictions, including by leveraging our international network”.
