BonelliErede adds Harvey to its tech ecosystem

Another step forward in a decade of responsible and people-centric innovation

BonelliErede has introduced Harvey into its technology ecosystem, the latest step in its 10-year innovation journey.

This journey began in 2016 with the establishment of the firm’s alternative legal services provider, beLab, which explores cutting-edge working models and methods. In 2020, beLab was spun off into a separate company wholly owned by BonelliErede, which further strengthened its role in advancing the firm’s digital transformation. The Innovation Hub was then created, which oversees the scouting, testing and assessment of new technologies in a secure and structured environment, together with the AI Task Force, which relies on different seniority levels and various areas of expertise.

BonelliErede’s journey in the AI sector has also resulted in various initiatives being launched: the introduction of AskAI, a structured service that helps the firm’s lawyers use AI responsibly and safely when providing legal services; the AI Policy, which sets out guiding principles and accountability standards for the use of generative AI; and mandatory AI Awareness training to foster continuous learning and mindful use.

Harvey, the leading AI platform for legal and professional services is thus a welcome addition to the firm’s broader tech ecosystem and another stepping stone in its evolution. It is being adopted in stages, with its implementation led by Power Users, i.e., trained professionals tasked with identifying specific use cases for each practice area and ensuring responsible use in line with the firm’s standards.

Eliana Catalano, managing partner of BonelliErede, commented as follows: “The addition of Harvey to our ecosystem is part of a long and unrelenting journey. For many years, we have invested in innovative solutions that support our professionals, all the while taking a cautious and responsible approach. AI is an extraordinary accelerator that expands our capabilities, but our people’s expertise remains the lynchpin of our work: we interact with AI without losing sight of the intellectual craftsmanship that has always been at our core”.

Massimiliano Danusso, chairman of BonelliErede, added the following: “These advanced tools give us the opportunity to focus even more on activities that require critical thinking, real-life experience, and strategic decision-making. Every AI-related choice we have made is the result of analysis, testing, training and dedicated policies: a rigorous path that enables us to use powerful tools while maintaining full control over quality, security and accountability. We will continue to evaluate and adopt only technologies that we consider truly useful and fully meet our standards. Above all, this will benefit our clients”.

The adoption of Harvey is a further step in BonelliErede’s evolution, which continues to combine experience, research and careful assessment of the most advanced technologies. This approach strengthens the firm’s ability to guide its clients and professionals in an ever-changing environment, all the while preserving the quality and reliability that define its identity.
