Stefano Morini is an international development specialist in our Marketing & Business Development Team
Marketing and international development at a law firm: what does that entail?
Well, first and foremost, it’s about driving and growing the business of our foreign offices and international clients.
Supporting our professionals with their daily business development initiatives with existing and prospective clients is obviously a key aspect of my job and that of my fellow international development colleagues. But so too is carrying out analyses to find new countries for the firm to expand to, be it through local partnerships and alliances or by setting up an office on the ground, and we obviously support the start-up phase of new offices.
Ever since I joined the team in 2017, I’ve focused especially on business development in Ethiopia – where BonelliErede has been present since 2016 – and Egypt. I also work on business development in Sub-Saharan Africa.
What do you like most about your job?
One of the things I like most is the great variety every day. I often face challenges that require creative solutions and initiative, especially when dealing with different cultures – which I get to know more and more about day after day!
Another aspect I find particularly stimulating is being part of such a big team – 25 at the moment – and having the opportunity to work alongside each and every one of them. I enjoy getting to understand the ins-and-outs of their different roles and areas of expertise and relish hearing their views on all kinds of matters.
The Marketing & Business Development Team as a whole provides client development at a corporate level to the focus teams and our professionals across all practice areas initiatives. This of course involves organising lead generation campaigns, client events and webinars, not to mention handling corporate communications and branding, dealing with submissions for legal guides and the like, and producing content.
Your job takes you around the world, albeit only ‘virtually’… but is there a place that has particular meaning for you or that represents you?
Oh yes, absolutely! I was born and have always lived in Milan – it’s a city I love with all my heart.
In my spare time, when I’m not at home watching Formula 1 (my favourite sport!) or talking about watches with my friends (another passion of mine!), I enjoy strolling around the city.
As a Milan native, I also have a favourite dish, of course: for me, after a day of meetings with our professionals in Dubai, or after a long session on business development in Addis Ababa, there’s nothing better than taking a moment to relax with my family, friends or colleagues over a good Milanese risotto!
