1 October 2015

In the framework of the South Africa – Italy Summit 2015, taking place today and tomorrow in Johannesburg, BonelliErede – in cooperation with South African law firm BBM Law – presented the report “Doing Business in South Africa”.

Now in its second edition, the summit, organised by the think tank of The European House – Ambrosetti, is fast becoming the global reference point for the debate on investment in Sub-Saharan Africa. BonelliErede is among the sponsors, and a delegation consisting of partners Gianpiero Succi and Gianfranco Veneziano will be there to represent our firm. This exclusive event brings together some of the most influential business leaders, leading economists and government authorities from Italy, South Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa, with the aim of building strategic relationships and taking full advantage of bilateral business opportunities. This year the 150 participants were selected from among senior executives from the Italian and Southern African companies that are playing a leading role in the growing market of Sub-Saharan Africa.

The summit provided BonelliErede the opportunity to present the report “Doing Business in South Africa”. As the second largest economy in the continent, South Africa is one of Africa’s leading economic and diplomatic players and a key hub for direct and indirect foreign investment in Sub-Saharan Africa. The report provides insights into all the legal aspects that foreign investors need to know when considering the South African market, including investment vehicles, investment protection tools, taxation and other key issues such as employment law, intellectual property protection, franchising and distribution agreements, competition law, and exploitation of raw materials.
