BonelliErede has appointed Francesco Maria Salerno as a local partner at its Brussels office, with the aim of further strengthening the firm’s international reach and its presence at the heart of the EU institutions.
Francesco Maria Salerno brings to BonelliErede extensive experience in EU law and various aspects of competition law, including State aid, along with a deep knowledge of EU institutions. Throughout his career, he has developed recognised expertise in market regulation, with a focus on the sectors most affected by developments in European legislation – including the digital sector, energy, transport, banking and finance. Over the years, he has also gained considerable experience in Golden Power matters (FDI screening) and international trade.
Before joining BonelliErede, he served as managing partner of the Brussels office of a well-known Italy-based law firm and as a senior attorney at a leading international law firm.
BonelliErede’s managing partner, Eliana Catalano, and chairman, Massimiliano Danusso, commented: “Francesco Maria’s appointment is part of the continued development of our Brussels office and our EU law and competition/antitrust practices. His experience and in-depth knowledge of the European context will further enhance our ability to support clients in an increasingly complex and constantly evolving regulatory landscape.”
Massimo Merola, managing partner of BonelliErede’s Brussels office, continued: “We are very excited to welcome Francesco Maria. With his arrival, we are taking a further step in the office’s development, leveraging complementary expertise that will help make our presence in Brussels even more distinctive.”
