10th edition of the Franco Bonelli Memorial Scholarships kicks off
3 February 2026

For the 10th year in a row, BonelliErede is granting two scholarships in memory of one of its founders, Franco Bonelli. The initiative reflects the firm’s longstanding commitment to supporting talented young legal professionals in their development and to promoting excellence in advanced legal education and research in an international context.

The scholarships are open to young law graduates who wish to further their studies in a different European country from their home country or in the US in one or more of the following areas, which were the subject of Franco Bonelli’s publications: corporate law and corporate governance, privatisation, international trade law, environmental damage, and – new this year – corporate management aimed at sustainable success.

To be eligible, candidates must be EU citizens who obtained a law degree (or equivalent qualification) before 31 December 2025 with a final mark of at least 105 for Italian degrees or a correspondingly high mark for degrees awarded by universities in other EU member states.

One scholarship is to attend a master’s (LL.M. or similar) of at least 8 months at a European or US university. At the end of the master’s the recipient will be offered the opportunity to work at BonelliErede, in a department selected based on their area of expertise.

The second scholarship is to carry out a 6-month research programme (PhD or research for a book or article) at a European or US university.

Managing Partner Eliana Catalano and Chairman Massimiliano Danusso had this to say: “These two scholarships help lay strong foundations for a career of excellence and represent an investment in the future of the legal profession. We are proud to support the development of a new generation of legal professionals, guiding them along a path that recognises merit and expertise”.

Details of the scholarships are available here.

Scholarship applications must be emailed by Friday, 3 April 2026, to BonelliErede.Formazione@belex.com.

Scholarships will be awarded by Friday, 15 May, by a commission comprising professors Sabino Cassese (chair), Giovanni Domenichini and Piergaetano Marchetti.
