2025 edition of the Franco Bonelli Memorial Scholarships kicks off
18 March 2025

For the ninth year now, BonelliErede is granting two scholarships in memory of one of its founders, Franco Bonelli.

The scholarships are open to law graduates who intend to pursue their studies in a different European country than their home country or in the US in one or more of the following areas, which were the subject of Franco Bonelli’s writings: corporate law and corporate governance, privatisation, international trade, anti-bribery, and environmental damage. Candidates must be EU citizens and have achieved, before 31 December 2024, a score of at least 105 at an Italian university or equivalent score at an EU university.

One scholarship is to attend a master’s (LLM or similar, lasting at least eight months), in a European or a US university. At the end of the master’s programme the recipient of this scholarship will be offered the opportunity to work at BonelliErede, in a department selected based on their area of expertise.

The second scholarship is to carry out a six-month research programme (PhD or research for a book or article) at a European or a US university.

Managing Partner Eliana Catalano and Chairman Massimiliano Danusso had this to say: “We firmly believe that international experience is a real opportunity for education and growth for those who have the chance. Initiatives such as this are a concrete expression of our commitment to supporting young talent, the future generation of legal professionals, and promoting their excellence. We believe that investing in training is fundamental to building the future of our profession: doing so in memory of our founding partner, Franco Bonelli, ten years after his passing, is a meaningful way for us to honour his legacy and to inspire those entering the profession”.

A Q&A session about the two scholarships is scheduled for the week starting 7 April 2025. If you are interested in attending, email BonelliErede.Formazione@belex.com.

Scholarship applications must be emailed by 24 April 2025 to BonelliErede.Formazione@belex.com.

Details of the scholarships are available here.

Scholarships will be awarded by 30 May by a commission comprising professors Sabino Cassese (chair), Giovanni Domenichini and Piergaetano Marchetti.
