On June 7th, Directive (EU)2019/790 on copyright and related rights in the Digital Single Market entered into force. Its purpose is to (i) harmonize further EU law applicable to copyright and related rights in the framework of the internal market, (ii) introduce additional exceptions and limitations to copyright and related rights, (iii) facilitate licences and ensure wider access to content and (iv) ensure a well-functioning marketplace for the exploitation of works.
