2 November 2022

BonelliErede’s team continues to grow with the addition of Antonio Albanese as Of Counsel at the firm’s Milan headquarters.

Albanese boasts vast prowess in bond law and contract law, including in litigation and arbitration involving companies and liability of banks and financial intermediaries – the fruit of his extensive academic pursuits and work as a consultant to leading firms in Italy on disputes relating to breach of contract, corporate law and civil liability.

In the world of academia, Albanese has served as Director of the Department of Legal Sciences at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Milan, where he is currently Full Professor of Civil Law, and he has lectured and taken on management roles in the university and professional training worlds in Italy and abroad. He is also the author of several publications, including textbooks, on contracts, bonds and civil liability.

Various institutions have relied on his expertise: he has been a member of CONSOB’s Banking and Financial Ombudsman (ABF) since 2017; he was Chairman of the Ethics and Disciplinary Committee at Banca del Credito Cooperativo di Massafra and he has served as a bankruptcy receiver for the Court of Milan; he has mediated in numerous disputes – appointed as sole arbitrator, panel member and panel chairman – for the Milan Chamber of Arbitration, the Piacenza Chamber of Arbitration, and ad hoc arbitration.

BonelliErede’s President, Stefano Simontacchi, and Managing Partner, Andrea Carta Mantiglia, had this to say: “We are very proud to welcome Antonio Albanese to BonelliErede. Antonio’s long academic and professional career has led him to be recognised as one of Italy’s leading experts in civil and corporate law. His expertise will bring great value to our team, which is already renowned for its excellence on the Italian legal landscape. This appointment reaffirms our firm’s commitment to growth by seizing the best opportunities on the market and offering our clients the highest level of service”.
