What is the EU doing to help businesses affected by the Covid-19 pandemic?
27 March 2020

The pandemic is not only a very serious health emergency for all citizens but also a serious economic shock for the economies of EU member states, putting many businesses at risk.

In response, the European Commission has presented the first phase of its plan/strategy to mitigate the epidemic’s socio-economic impact. The strategy is aimed at facilitating cooperation between EU institutions and member states on two levels: first, by encouraging and coordinating national interventions, with maximum flexibility in the application of EU rules on State aid; and second, by adopting measures at EU level, mainly through EU funds.
