
On 11 June, the Senate also approved the Space Law, which is now awaiting publication in the Official Gazette. The text introduces important public powers in the aerospace sector, starting with the requirement for authorisation and registration of space activities and space objects. The Presidency of the Council of Ministers is entrusted with significant discretionary powers, and the Italian Space Agency is recognised as the technical authority in the sector with a monitoring role.
However, the Space Law also opens up a series of public contracts that could contribute to the development of the Italian space industry, including measures to support innovative start-ups and SMEs and the establishment of a fund for the space economy.
