On 4 December 2018, the Council of the European Union approved the ECN + Directive, with the aim of empowering the competition authorities of the Member States to be more effective enforcers and to ensure the proper functioning of the internal market: the ECN+ Directive want to ensure that national competition authorities have the guarantees of independence, resources, and enforcement and fining powers necessary to effectively apply Arts. 101 and 102 TFEU.
