As part of the procedure to enact the conversion law for Law Decree No. 13 of 24 February 2023 – regarding urgent provisions for the implementation of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP), the National Plan for Complementary Investments to the NRRP, cohesion policies and a common agriculture policy – which must be converted into law by 25 April, the Italian Government proposed an amendment to significantly speed up the authorisation procedure for RES plants.

The proposed amendment envisages exempting RES plants from the environmental screening and environmental impact assessment procedures set out in the Italian Environmental Code (Legislative Decree 152/2006) under certain conditions.
